20th June, 2012 was designated as the global action day/ manifestaion to counter the “green economy” and the relevant agenda that was to be proposed during the Rio+20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. On this day, a lot of Brazilian local associations as well as their international allies marched on Avenida do Branco, one of the major avenues in the central business district of Rio de Janeiro.

Despite the manifestation was hosted on a rainy afternoon, the rain did not pour out people’s enthusiasm and determination to speak up for their rights. Despite there were many police, military and helicopter control the whole time, the manifestation proceeded in a very pacified way- or more as People’s Carnaval ( in appreciation of the nature), to be exact.
